CP Pulso: What We’re Talking About This Week (8.17.12)

We’re constantly on the pulse of what’s caliente in business, technology, culture, and trends. Here are the links that got our hearts racing this week.

Week ending August 17th, 2012

Fifty Shades of Grey Becoming Wearable

This infamous series is set to inspire a clothing and lingerie debuting soon.  Speculation still exists as to what exactly the items will look like, but whatever gets creates,  I’m sure will catch attention. –Michelle

The Biggest Group Immigrating to the U.S….Isn’t Hispanic

Working at an agency focused on the Hispanic market, we’re always hearing about the significant growth of the Hispanic population and trying to figure out how it’s impacting American culture and our clients’ businesses. Still, we need to remember that Hispanics are only one piece of a much bigger puzzle:

Asians have now taken over Latinos as the largest group of new arrivals every year.

In 2010, 36% of new immigrants were Asians compared to 31% for Hispanics, according to a report released Tuesday by the Pew Research Center.

That’s a significant change from a decade ago, when 19% of immigrants were Asians and 59% were Hispanics.”

Son Jarocho Festival

Last year I saw my first live performance of Son Jarocho. It was such an energizing and genuine performance and it gave me goose bumps! This weekend if you are in the Los Angeles area you can witness these great performances, some of them from Mexico and some of them pure LA Mexican-American talent. Enjoy! –Pavel
